Please understand that only current git head is supported here.

Could you try "./configure --enable-libvpx && make ffmpeg"?

Is there a reason you need a static binary? And if you need it, why
don't you download one?

Just in case: The site you visited is a wiki and anybody can
edit it, I don't know if developers have ever tested what is
written there.
