[FFmpeg-user] Profile mp4 all devices

This page : (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/H.264) from ffmpeg
documention claims that in order to ensure compatibility between every
device, we have to produce Baseline level3 mp4 files. But the devices
quoted are really old.

- Since nowadays, the device are more and more performant, could we
assume that most device supports "main profile" ? It seems to be the
hypothesis of Youtube since they are compressing their lowest quality
movies in "main profile".
- Are you aware of some research/tests on this subject ?
