huh? OS X comes with Apache and you can set the mime-type no
problem in the appropriate places.

And that Apple "discourages" any other formats and codecs than
QuickTime compatabile ones.

Calm down, mate. I wasn't advocating Mac OS, I was just pointing
out that file --mime-types is platform dependent, or version
dependent if you prefer.
If I'm desperate I can install a more recent version of file.
And when it comes to webservers, you can't always choose your
own, and I came across quite some with even older systems and
consequentially file version.
