Uh, no, that is obviously not what I was trying to do. I specified probesize,
because ffmpeg, in every iteration of this test, displayed the suggestion:
"Consider increasing the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options"
(you can see it in my original message)
I had tried various sizes for these, with no effect. There is no listing for
what the default is (I suppose I could look at the source).
In any case, I have tracked the issue to a problem with the source client
(QuickTime Broadcaster), appearing to randomly end UDP transmissions after some
period of time (145 seconds in the most accurately timed case).
Ffmpeg was not giving obvious errors about not receiving any input, but other
than that, this was not ffmpeg's problem.
Thanks to anyone who looked at this, my apologies for taking your time on a
pointless exercise.
