[FFmpeg-user] Syntax problem: split (16) audio channels into (8) different stereo streams

Then use pan if you prefer it:

$ ffmpeg -i input 
-af "pan=stereo|c0=c0|c1=c1" out1.wav 
-af "pan=stereo|c0=c2|c1=c3" out2.wav
...
