mplayer -dvd-device /dev/sr0 dvd://1 -dumpfile out.vob -dumpstream -endpos 2M

the ffmpeg docs suggest including yadif.

fieldmatch=order=tff:combmatch=full,yadif=deint=interlaced,decimate
