[FFmpeg-user] Hello and newbie question

Thanks Carl but what does that mean?

Why would Ubuntu 12.04 come pre-installed with an "intentionally broken version
with several hundred known bugs"? Not that I'm too worried about the history
behind this, how do I get the answer to my original question and more importantly
how do I get a fix for it?

This is not FFmpeg but an intentionally broken version
with several hundred known bugs not reproducible with
FFmpeg, some of them security relevant, please
understand that we cannot support this version here.
