[FFmpeg-user] A lot of white noise when capturing from the microphone

I have captured audio before, albeit some time ago.

At the moment when I capture audio I get a lot of white noise. I am
using (like I think I did in the past):
    ffmpeg -y -f alsa -i hw:0 audio.mp3

I tried a lot of different options, but better as with this command
line I do not get it. What could be the problem and how would I
circumvent it?
