If you know the total time you can compute that yourself. That's what
I have done in applications that work with the command line but if you
do not extract that information you may have a problem here. In all
the applications I have been involved with, a metadata extraction step
was performed first. To do that via Perl by invoking ffprobe should be
trivial.
