What would be the purpose of a release, apart from to have users
running code with bugs that have already been fixed.

There are several repositories providing up to date builds of ffmpeg,
is it really too much to ask users to use the fixed version rather
than the buggy version?

More to the point, this is the umpteenth time you've waded into a
thread to bitch at someone about this. It doesn't help the user, and
it doesn't help your agenda. In fact, your agenda is unreachable,
since the only way to provide supported releases is to have release
manager(s) backporting fixes but not features, and determining when to
drop a release and merge new features.

I don't see you volunteering to do all that crappy scut work, but you
do like bitching that no-one else is doing it and they should be.

To the OP, you can get a completely up to date build of ffmpeg for os x here:

http://www.evermeet.cx/ffmpeg/snapshots/

Cheers

Tom
