[FFmpeg-user] --enable-libfdk-aac - not recognized

I just downloaded and compiled libfdk-aac from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencore-amr/files/fdk-aac/

but ffmpeg ./configure doesn't seem to recognize it, 

Unknown option "--enable-libfdk-aac"

it doesn't seem to be listed in the configure file even though the release notes for ffmpeg 1.1 indicate it is supported.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I'm on OS X 10.6.8
