My guess would be that maybe you've exceeded your hardware's ability to render in real time? Right now I'm rendering two streams of 4k video (mp4, web) and with 4 of my Mac's 8 cores very busy, I'm rendering at a rate of 0.2 fps.  (Yes: 5 seconds per frame - it's just a  test.)

But that's at or beyond my knowledge of ffmpeg at this point.
