Thanks for the tip.

I tried the following, and it seems to work:

ffmpeg -i myfile.mts -s 640x480 -codec:v mpeg4 -profile:v 3 -codec:a
copy myfile.mp4

Next, I need to join the two MPG4 files into one.

Or is it a better idea to first join the two AVCHD files into one, and
_then_, convert them to MPEG4 and shrink their screen size?
