I do not remember a report or question where Mediainfo 
was any help, what is needed, is ffmpeg -i virtualdub.avi

Note that FFmpeg's h264 decoder is bit-exact for a 
large number of test-files.

(If you want me to guess: 24bit is really enough to 
save RGB24, 32bit are simply unneeded. IIuc there may 
be a problem with the way rgb is generated, but this 
would be completely unrelated to size.)
