This syntax will work for current ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -loop 1 -i input.png -i input.mp3 -c:v libx264 -preset medium \
-tune stillimage -crf 18 -c:a copy -shortest output.mkv

Change "medium" to "veryslow" if you're patient.
