like roemer, i looked at using Cygwin or MingW on windows and decided to
combine VMPlayer / Ubuntu iso with the prior, excellent work by roman10. It
worked fine. The jni sample app of roman10 shows how to access the native
libs that get linked with "libffmpeg.so" which winds up as part of the
android apk. You can extend the jni interface from roman10 to implement your
own calls.
