[FFmpeg-user] About timestamp

Seems pts_time/dts_time has some kinid of relation to pts/dts, but
obviously not dts_time = dts/1000.
What confuses me is why step differs even two files have the same format,
say .mp4. Which step to choose when join two files together? Or whether
ffmpeg will help me to figure that, i just call av_*_write()?
