got one (~45 Eur) and it works as described by Tom - 
mplayer -speed 1.1 is close to the limit.

It was a major pain to get the nvidia driver talking
to a Benq W1100 with 50 Hz vertical refresh and of
course HDMI sound also needed pulseaudio tweaks 
but now it works OK.
