[FFmpeg-user] Question about transitions

Hello all, not sure if this is possible with ffmpeg - but any guidance 
on how we might be able to go about doing something like this would be 
appreciated.  We would like to look to create some templates like this 
short video

and plug in photos with some script for the transitions.  We have used 
dvd-slideshow to create slideshows but they are fairly limited.
