 This last issue I'm not sure how to fix.

 I've been sick lately so no progress, but soon I'll re-engage and I'll
 priorize sending simple bugfixes to the ML first.

 From what I can tell, this is another issue with bit allocation related to
 constantly and quickly repeating transients.
