I don't really know for sure, but I think DirectShow does not have any scale/colourspace
conversion filters, at least not by default, and a lot of codecs implement internal
conversions due to this.
Which makes me suspect they haven't actually solved it.
And I guess a few things are done via filter priorities in DirectShow, with a good
chance of breaking if they are set wrong - at least in the Win98 times or so.
