Is it possible to create 3 testcases that one can just copy and paste to the
command line to see these 3 problems ?

If its possible, it would clearly show the problems and avoid a never
ending disagreement

Rewriting code that is poorly written but fully understood is good.
Rewriting code that one doesnt understand is a sign that one is less smart
than the original author, trying to rewrite it will not make it better.
