I would love to play with this, but apart from the lack of time, I
suspect using these patches requires some hardware I do not have. Can
you tell a little about it?

Also, is it only for receiving? It is there, at least as a potential,
the possibility of sending, maybe in the Citizen Band?

That would be very sad — but having myself set all FFmpeg development on
back-burner until the project becomes welcoming again, I fully
understand the feeling.

I hope before coming to that you will consider taking part in an effort
to take back the project from the bean counters.
