Black vertical or horizontal bars? Need more info. Should be a filter that can handle this already though.

Delogo filter might help you here.

But if its determining like the sponsorship things and the intros thats way way out of scope of ffmpeg.

If this is for what I think its for, none of this stuff will help you. All codecs are "different" but ffmpeg can help you determine which codec a video is, along with framerate and bitrate.

It certainly is intresting, please let me know where the project goes. Most of the stuff may be filter related, but for the most part it looks like its out of scope. Good luck.
