descriptions) should either by:

or
"Default is @var{}."

Regarding the channel layout: Could you please link to the section
describing the supported layouts? As such:

"See @ref{channel layout syntax,,the Channel Layout section in the ffmpeg-utils(1) manual,ffmpeg-utils}
for the required syntax."
