I tested the following (from scratch):
$ git clone git://github.com/qyot27/libutvideo
$ cd libutvideo
$ ./configure && make
make install (as root)and then build FFmpeg with 
libutvideo support.
The resulting binary played the sample from ticket #4044 
and was at least 10% more efficient than current FFmpeg 
(see ticket #3651).
