 <a id="message"></a><h3>August 1st, 2015, A message from the FFmpeg project</h3>
 <p>
   Dear multimedia community,
 </p>
 <p>
   As some of you may already know, <a
   href="http://ffmpeg.org/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2015-July/176489.html">Michael
   Niedermayer recently resigned as the leader of the project</a>. He has been
   doing an outstanding work for many years, and the project is now facing
   another crisis in its history. Nevertheless, the community will continue
   to contribute to the project and will try to satisfy as much as possible
   the expectations of everyone.
 </p>
 <p>
   To illustrate this, we are in the process of a reconciliation with the
   Libav project. This is a tedious and sensitive operation, that will be
   notably discussed in our communities online over the coming weeks, and in
   person at the <a
   href="https://www.videolan.org/videolan/events/vdd15/">VideoLAN Developer
   Days</a> in Paris in September: a neutral venue for the entire open source
   multimedia community.
 </p>
 <p>
   We don't really know yet if this is going to result in anything, but in the
   meantime we urge our common users to avoid making any loud statements and
   assumption regarding both sides.
 </p>
 <p>
   The last four years have not been easy on our multimedia community, for
   both contributors and users. The current situation gives us an opportunity
   to find solutions to these issues, and to have reconciliation between the
   forks, which have split the community for so long.
 </p>
 <p>
   Unfortunately, much of the disagreement has taken place in inappropriate
   venues so far, which has made finding common ground and solutions
   difficult. We aim to discuss this.
 </p>
