i know that youtube does not appreciate vlc playing youtube videos
without the ads. 

a youtube-only feature is still related to this discussion imo.

since none of the suggestions so far have gone anywhere (maintain
quvi itself, port ydl to C and maintain it, wrap ydl and maintain that,
etc) i figured why not toss this idea into the ring. especially because
it does not require us to do much more than send an email to youtube.

we all want youtube (and other site) support, i think we agree.

bikeshed is not helping much. maybe we should only respond in
patches or pull requests. :P
