[FFmpeg-devel] vintage avi type 1 compatibility?

Hello,

Playing with Cinepak which seems to be the "most portable" video media
to date I discovered an unrelated data portability limitation in ffmpeg.

It looks like the avi multiplexer always produces avi type 2 files. This
is fine almost always but some ancient programs are unhappy with this
format version.

Is there any way to multiplex into avi type 1 (reviving some old code
if type 1 was ever produced by ffmpeg before?), short of learning the
gory format details and implementing this on one's own?

Regards,
Rl
