People don't want choice, they just want what they want. I suspect those
with the most pertinent view on the docs style generally are users
new(ish) to ffmpeg who don't subscribe to this list.
My experience generally is that end user documentation is best not
written by developers as they cannot approach the subject from the view
point of an outsider coming new to a feature. This is a luxury ffmpeg is
not in a position to be able to afford so we do what we can, and respond
as best we can if users squawk.
Lets see if there is any further noise on the subject and if so we can
look to tweaking things. In the meantime as you say "pushing neither
would be worst", and you got 100% of the votes cast so progress has been
made.
