Valid point, IMO.
Also saying "is not intended to be used by protocols" is wrong. It may
be used, and is used by protocols, at both sides - as callback
provider and as callback checker.
I think current comment is mostly sufficient. It would be more
valuable if this feature was demonstrated somewhere in doc/examples/
