First of all, thanks for you patch.
I only had a quick look at it but it's compiling and working on osx 10.9.

My main comment would be about the use of QTKit which is now deprecated
with osx 10.9 in favour of the AVFoundation framework 

Using the AVFoundation framework has the benefit of working on iOs but
it's only available with osx >= 10.7.

I'll come up with a better review and some more testing in a few days.
