It should be a non-issue for distros since they will use
their own configure options (the --enable-gpl for example
I mentioned), and then they will also split it into packages
per library (which removes the "bloat" issue) etc.
Since I've never maintained any packages I'm happy to be
corrected, but I kind of assume that what our configure picks
by default is not that relevant to them (in fact, that
we don't change it "for no good reason" - exaggerating, no offense meant -
might be more valuable to them).
I have no beef in this either way, I just wanted to understand it.
