Adding codenames is a strange fashion to me.
Ffmpeg release codenames are not used/mentioned anywhere except
ffmpeg.org/download.html. Nobody refers to codename when telling the
version they use. So why bother naming?
There are names for minor releases (X.Y.Z), so you should name them
all, but in fact only few are named.
In spite of consistency and not doing unnecessary things, i'd drop the naming.

Well, before 1.0 there was a sort of such concept - see Happiness,
Freedom, Harmony, Love, Peace...
Scientists names are also nice idea.
