Why can't you just talk to the card using the drivers instead of a
binary blob? You can do this with other cards, notably DVEO/Linsys

In fact I wanted to write a libsdi for userspace SDI, VANC, etc.
processing but there are so many binary blob drivers/APIs out there I
decided it wasn't worth it.
