first mail about coverity:

ffmpeg got in was because it is included in mplayer.
ffmpeg got its own entry later, after someone requested it i think.
right on http://scan.coverity.com says why they test things:
"Initiated in 2006 in collaboration with the US Department of Homeland
Security, the Coverity Scan Initiative works with some of the most
widely adopted open source projects including Linux, PHP, Apache, and
Android to help enforce the quality and security of open source
software."
i guess mplayer was 'widely adopted' ;)
usa tax dollars at work...
