You can be sure that if there is a way to screw up the design of something,
then at least one program will actually do it. (Probably one from microsoft
or apple, in fact.)

In other words, I am quite certain that someday, someone will need to
distinguish because of some braindead library. Of course, in that case they
could just do the probing themselves.

But at the very least, I believe an application should be able to demux and
remux a file using lavf and produce a valid file.
