I intend to do the same for the rematrix path of af_pan. I mention it so no
one starts working on it at the same time.

I also had the same problem at some point. I do not remember if it went away
by itself or if I just forgot about it.

I do not think ffmpeg can detect whether a filter is doing its work
internally or using a library: the problem is definitely triggered by some
change in the public behaviour of the filter. It would be useful to find out
exactly what kind of change can have this effect, so we can specifically
check it and more easily fix it.

Do you still have a version of the filter that produces the problem?
