I do not think I wrote that: a more correct wording would be: aformat may be
needed in _any_ case.

But for most people, it will work just fine without it as their samples will
be s16.

I am fine with the patch in either version, though. But I realize that
inserting aconvert itself instead of aformat is probably more efficient, and
not harder.
