Well, as you know it was for consistency purpose. What can be done is
simply raise a warning when -b is used AND there are both audio and video
streams, and point out that using -b:a or -b:v is more appropriate.

If this is confirmed maybe -b might be changed to have 'a' or 'v' flag
mandatory.
