Leon's work is a continuation of what I did in August 2009.  see
http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2009-July/073145.html.  I
mostly completed the normal patch submission process (patchcheck,
checkheaders, etc), but it got stalled when some of the main devs wanted a
few features that I didn't have time to implement.  Now is somewhat better
for me to be working on this (Leon also seems interested in collaborating),
and I'd just like to restart the discussion of needs to be done.
