how would it know which is the ancilary id ?

no requirement until we have a sample
but id say its required to print a warning in this case otherwise this
could lead to some wasted hours debuging why a expectec subtitle stream
isnt existing

Asymptotically faster algorithms should always be preferred if you have
asymptotical amounts of data
