It's part of the public API already. Also there are more serious issues
to clean up, mostly on the MPlayer side (the whole
get_buffer/release_buffer is already duplicated, with the current code
it would then be triplicated and a VAAPI patch would probably follow the
lead and happily quadruplicate the code, but I have no worries I'll find
even more stuff to fix...).
