Sorry I misexplained myself: .pc files generation works properly from
gentoo ebuilds as far as I know, using cross-compiling, or at least used
to, and pkg-config (with the due edit to the ebuilds) also worked.

I'll see to take out my ARM board and get going with trying some
stuff. With the excuse of health I had to keep this stuff going on for
too long indeed.
