I have a patch here that checks for #warning support at configure and
disables it when it's unsupported; I haven't sent it yet because I
wanted to send the patches together as they make little sense detached
one from the other.

Yes that's one of the things I want to take care of before committing
the change: finding how to shut up that particular warning since it is
only noise for us right now. But again, to do that I need to get the
whole set of compiler-specific checks cleaned up so that we do the same
that's done for ICC right now.

As I said, I hope to get all the patches on the ML before Monday.
