When you talk of ARM cores you should distinguish:
- the architectures (ARMv5TE, ARMv6, ARMv7-A for instance)
- the implementations of an architecture (latest xscale's are ARMv5TE
+ extensions, ARM1136 is ARMv6, Cortex-A8 is ARMv7-A).
