I am not sure if i did understand you correctly, but are you proposing
to remove the xvid wrapper?
FFmpeg can encode mpeg4 asp itself, true, so why xvid - i haven't tested
the quality nor speed of FFmpeg's encoder and don't want to cause
flamewars but according to my experience xvid is the best mpeg4 asp
encoder around. Would be nice to have and keep the wrapper for it as
alternative.
