No particular connection.
It's just that on most devices I've found or used to try (based on
Sigma chips for example)
you have a powerful decoding engine and just a 256 (sometimes even
less) canal used for OSD
which is used to provide some "GUI" only but that is so limited, you
can't do much with it ...
But even it'd be a 24bits OSD canal, it'd still be a pain to have to
draw anything on it.
