I wrote the attached code for this purpose.
It's not very elegant but it works.
Perhaps there should be more timing related stuff added
into the ffmpeg binary itself.
I also run ffmpeg without any timing checks to heat caches/iobuffers.
The rest is just a matter of some lousy scripting..
