I just thought that the ability to reproduce the problem and identify what
triggered it was the most important (configure options, cpu specific
optimizations, toolchain or whatever), but I will sure provide any
information you may need to resolve this issue.

Sure I tried, it was the first thing I did. And it definitely took much less
time than performing a number of tests with different revisions to 
narrow down the problem to the revision where it was introduced 
(a script for doing this automatically would be nice to have).
